Sadabad to host exhibition by Nasser Ovissi

TEHRAN – A collection of paintings by Nasser Ovissi, a pioneer of the Saqqakhaneh School, a neo-traditional style of art that derives inspiration from Iranian folk art and culture, is on display in an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in the Sadabad Cultural-Historical Complex.
A number of Iranian art elites attended the opening ceremony of the exhibit held on Friday.
The exhibition, which will run until September 22, has been organized in collaboration with Ovissi Gallery in Tehran.
Ovissi, 84, who currently lives in the U.S., blends Iranian tradition with modernism in his works, which mostly feature Iranian women and powerful horses with bright colors.
His works are on display at museums in Iran and Italy, France, England, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, India, Sweden, Canada, Spain and the United States.
